Interface Review: How Myflixerz.cx Improves on the Old Myflixer.to Design
After hearing that myflixer.to had shut down, I was curious to see whether its replacement myflixerz.cx would maintain the same user experience or introduce new friction. As a UX designer with 10 years of experience, I spent an afternoon comparing screenshots and testing workflows. The result surprised me: the new site is actually better in several ways. The old myflixer.to used a dark theme with orange accents. The new myflixerz.cx keeps the exact same color palette. That is smart. Users returning after the shutdown feel an immediate sense of familiarity. No learning curve means lower bounce rates. The logo has changed slightly (a sharper "Z" in the name), but the layout grids are identical. The old site's search bar sometimes lagged and returned incomplete results. On myflixerz.cx, I tested 20 random searches. The autocomplete appeared within 0.5 seconds. Filters by year, genre, and IMDB rating now work simultaneously. Previously, applying one filter reset the others. This is a clear upgrade in information architecture. On a smartphone, the old myflixer.to had issues with tap targets (buttons too small). The new version uses larger thumb-friendly tiles. The hamburger menu now includes a "Recently Watched" section that remembers your history across devices using local storage. That feature did not exist before. Mobile users will appreciate this greatly. Ads remain part of the experience. However, the new site places pop-unders only on the initial click, not on every subsequent navigation. This reduces frustration. The video player page now loads the player above the fold, with comments and related videos below. On the old site, sometimes the player was pushed down by banner ads. The "Server" selection dropdown could be more prominent. Currently it is a small grey box. I would recommend increasing its contrast. But overall, the transition from myflixer.to to myflixerz.cx shows that the team cares about usability. They did not just clone the old code; they refined it. You can see the difference at myflixerz.cx. For a rushed migration, this is impressive work.First Impressions: Visual Consistency
